Circular Economy practices can transform the quality of business for a company. Nevertheless, a circular economy plan has to have an impact in all areas of the production-consumption system since the popular process of creation-fabrication-sale will be challenged. Changes in attitude, behaviour and thinking in people go hand in hand with the development of the circular economy measures to be implemented in a company. People are a key aspect of an efficient implementation. A series of capabilities are essential in order to outline a sustainable future; from knowledge and critical thinking regarding circular economy practices to a rich understanding of social abilities and behaviours.
In order to see a true transformation, plans on a circular economy should focus on social behaviour and not only in the maxims of zero waste and restoration. We all agree that these two points are vital in the development of a circular economy, but we should take a general approach and analyse human behaviour in a thorough way in order to change certain patterns of consumption. It is also important to raise awareness among the population, increase knowledge and develop certain skills in order to promote collaborative consumption. Regarding the professional world, organisations should prioritize the efficient training of their employees as well as their managers, focusing on explaining the social and human dimensions of the circular economy.
